A unique opportunity UAPD offers for University of Arizona students is the Student Safety Aide program. Students are employed by the police department, trained, and then patrol University of Arizona properties on golf cart, vehicles, bicycles, or on foot.  SSAs act as the eyes and ears of the police department. SSAs mainly assist Safety Aides and sometimes Police Officers by taking certain criminal reports such as bicycle thefts and other larcenies. In addition, they assist the University community by responding to requests for escorts, public assists, and non-criminal alarms. SSAs may also assist in other facets of the department such as Property & Evidence, Athletic and other Special Events, Dispatching, Administration, and Investigations.

The University of Arizona Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Student Safety Aide. This position involves assisting The University of Arizona Police Department personnel with daily duties to include detection of criminal activity on University of Arizona main campus and satellite properties. SSAs work a minimum of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 25 hours per week while school in session. Applicants must be able to work evenings and weekends.

  • Salary Range: $14.50/hour
  • Candidate must pass a background investigation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University of Arizona student (at least 6 credit hours)
  • No felony convictions
  • Valid US Drivers License

This position will begin July 1st or later.
