University of Arizona Police Department Crime Alert
(Clery Timely Warning)

 
Type of Offense:  Stalking 
Today’s Date:  October 4, 2024 
Date and Time of Occurrence:  October 3, 2024 at 4:33pm 
Location:  University of Arizona – Main Campus, precise location unknown
 
Reporting Agency:  Campus Security Authority Case # CSA24-024
 
Synopsis of Crime or Offense:  On October 4, 2024, the University of Arizona Police Department received a report from a Campus Security Authority. The Campus Security Authority reported that a female student advised that, while she was on the University of Arizona main campus, a male drove up to her and asked if she wanted a ride. The male then circled back in his car to make a second inquiry if she wanted a ride. At this time, it is unknown if this incident is related to previous similar instances around the Main Campus that UAPD notified the community of last month.
 
Suspect Description: The vehicle’s driver is described as a white male in his 60s or 70s, balding with white hair, a beard and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt and sunglasses. The individual was reported to be driving a white vehicle with a license plate that began with “DN.”
 
Status:  UAPD is further investigating this Campus Security Authority report.
 
Definitions: Stalking: Engaging in a course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to:
• fear for the person’s safety or the safety of others; or
• suffer substantial emotional distress.
For the purposes of this definition:
• Course of conduct means two or more acts, including, but not limited to, acts in which the
stalker directly, indirectly, or through third parties, by any action, method, device, or means,
follows, monitors, observes, surveils, threatens, or communicates to or about a person, or
interferes with a person’s property.
• Reasonable person means a reasonable person under similar circumstances and with
similar identities to the victim.
• Substantial emotional distress means significant mental suffering or anguish that may, but does
not necessarily require, medical or other professional treatment or counseling.
