(Clery Timely Warning)

 
Type of Offense:  Stalking
Today’s Date:  August 11, 2024
Date and Time of Occurrence:  August 10, 2024, at 3 p.m.
Location:  University of Arizona –west of main campus– Euclid Avenue and 1st St.
Reporting Agency:  University of Arizona Police Department / Case # U2408100005
 
Synopsis of Crime or Offense: On August 10, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m., an individual drove up to a woman (the reporting party) at Euclid Ave and 1st St. This individual exited his vehicle and offered the reporting party a ride multiple times to which she declined. She then walked away from him towards Main Gate Square (Tyndall Ave. and University Blvd.). While entering an establishment at Main Gate Square the reporting party saw what she believed was the subject’s vehicle parked across the street. The vehicle was gone when the reporting party left the establishment a short time later.
  
Suspect Description: Described as a Hispanic male, 41 years of age, 6 feet tall, heavy build, and has short dark colored hair. The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt and black pants at the time of the incident. The suspect was driving a white Nissan Altima sedan bearing Arizona License Plate KHA-9SG. Photos of the suspect and the vehicle he was associated with will be attached at the end of this Clery Timely Warning.
 
Status:  UAPD is actively attempting to contact the suspect and investigating this case.
 
Definitions:
Stalking: Engaging in a course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable
person to:
• fear for the person’s safety or the safety of others; or
• suffer substantial emotional distress.
For the purposes of this definition:
• Course of conduct means two or more acts, including, but not limited to, acts in which the
stalker directly, indirectly, or through third parties, by any action, method, device, or means,
follows, monitors, observes, surveils, threatens, or communicates to or about a person, or
interferes with a person’s property.
• Reasonable person means a reasonable person under similar circumstances and with
similar identities to the victim.
• Substantial emotional distress means significant mental suffering or anguish that may, but does
not necessarily require, medical or other professional treatment or counseling.
