Academy Overview
UAPD Community Academy is a free series of classes for faculty and staff launched by UAPD to engage the university community. The first academy was held in Spring 2024.
During 11 weekly 2.5-hour sessions (plus a graduation ceremony), academy participants will gain a deeper understanding of every facet of UAPD’s operations and will have the opportunity to share feedback and ideas regarding public safety. Sworn police personnel and civilian staff from different areas of UAPD will provide a comprehensive overview of their duties and responsibilities, from patrol operations and criminal investigations to regional partnerships with law enforcement agencies.
The academy’s curriculum is designed to improve the community’s knowledge and relationships with their police department through education and live interaction with UAPD personnel.
Academy participants are encouraged to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns related to public safety in a respectful dialogue.
The academy does not involve hands-on experiences or simulations. Food and drinks will be provided.
Registration: Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis to U of A faculty and staff members. Future sessions may include students.
