Type of Offense:  Motor Vehicle Theft
Today’s Date:  1/17/2025
Date and Time of Occurrence:  1/17/2025 @ 11:43 (successful) and 1/17/2025 @ about 14:30 (unsuccessful attempt) and 1/17/2025 @ 12:37 (successful)
 
Location:  Main Campus 1st occurrence:  Hopi Hall 1440 E 4th St, Tucson AZ 85719
                                            2nd occurrence:  Navajo Hall 1557 E 6th St, Tucson AZ 85719
                                            3rd occurrence:  Student Union 1303 E University, Tucson AZ 85719

Synopsis of Crime or Offense: On 1/17/2025 at approximately 11:43 the University of Arizona Police Department received a report of a stolen golf cart (Motor Vehicle Theft) from Hopi Hall. At approximately 14:00 a report from a different individual advised there was an attempted golf cart theft (Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft) from Navajo Hall – reporting party saw a suspect driving the golf cart; followed and confronted the suspect, suspect then fled the scene. At 12:37 a third reporting party advised his golf cart was no longer where he parked it (Motor Vehicle Theft) at the Student Union. Suspect is still outstanding.
 
Injuries:  No physical injuries.
 
Suspect Description: Suspect is 17-19 years of age, 6’2, thin build,160lbs, black hair, green eyes, thin mustache wearing green shirt with shorts that were possibly tan.
 
Status:  UAPD is increasing patrol in the area.
 
Definition: Motor Vehicle Theft: The theft or attempted theft of a motor vehicle.

  • When utilizing a golf cart remember to park in fenced or other secured areas when possible.
  • Utilize a steering wheel lock or other anti-theft device.
  • Remove valuables from golf cart when it is unattended.
  • Avoid leaving the golf cart unattended for extended periods of time.
  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • If you see suspicious activity in the parking lots or around campus call 9-1-1.
