University of Arizona Police Department Crime Alert
(Clery Timely Warning)

 
Type of Offense:  E-vehicle Motor Vehicle Theft
Today’s Date:  9/3/25
Date and Time of Occurrence: Between August 18 and September 1 there were 5 completed E-vehicle (E-bike and E-scooters) thefts and 3 attempted e-vehicle thefts were reported to UAPD on multiple dates and times.
 
Location:  University of Arizona – Main Campus – various location on Main Campus
 
Reporting Agency/Case#: University of Arizona Police Department Case numbers: 2508180001, 2508260003, 2508260005, 2508270004, 2508270009, 2508270012, 2509010006, and 2509010007
 
Synopsis of Crime or Offense:
During the last two weeks (8/18/25-9/1/25) the University of Arizona Police Department received multiple reports from individuals saying their E-vehicles have been stolen, or an attempt was made to steal the vehicle from various locations around campus.
 
Injuries:  No injuries in the completed E-vehicle thefts
 
Suspect Description: There is no suspect information for the completed E-vehicle thefts
 
Status:  UAPD has increased patrols around hot spots and residence halls in an effort to mitigate e-vehicle thefts

UAPD would like to remind the campus community about the following safety tips:
  • Keep a copy of your E-vehicle serial number and register your E-vehicle with Parking and Transportation https://parking.arizona.edu/alt-transportation/bicycles
  • Utilize the free Bike Valet parking on the mall or at the Health Sciences Innovation Building
  • Park and secure E-vehicles in approved locations
  • Secure E-vehicles with a durable locking device
  • Park in well-lit areas
  • If possible, attach GPS device in an inconspicuous location on your E-vehicle that gives a location to your mobile device
  • If you see suspicious activity in the parking lots, near bike racks, or around campus call 9-1-1 or use the SafeCats App
