Type of Offense:  Burglary
Today’s Date:  December 29, 2023
Date and Time of Occurrence:   December 22, 2203   2:00 PM – December 23, 2023   1:04 PM

Location:  1717 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ (Babcock Residence Hall)
                  638 E University Blvd, Tucson, AZ (Zeta Psi Fraternity)

Reporting Agency / Case #:  UAPD / 2312230002, 2312270001, 2312280001

Synopsis of Crime or Offense: Between 12-22-23 and 12-23-23, an unidentified suspect(s) unlawfully entered an unoccupied room at Babcock Residence Hall and stole a bicycle. Entry was gained by damaging the door lock.

On 12-27-23, an unidentified suspect(s) unlawfully entered Zeta Psi Fraternity house through an open second story window. The suspect removed a bag containing personal items from the house and abandoned it nearby.

On 12-28-23, an unidentified suspect was observed exiting Zeta Psi Fraternity house after gaining unlawful entry.

Injuries:  There were no reports of physical injuries.

Suspect Description: A male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt was seen exiting Zeta Psi Fraternity house.

Status:  UAPD is actively investigating. It is unknown if the crimes are connected to one another. At this time, no suspects have been apprehended.

Definition: Burglary is the unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or a theft.

UAPD would like to remind the campus community about the following safety tips:

  • Keep your doors and windows locked.

  • Familiarize yourself with the security systems and procedures utilized in your building.

  • Be sure to lock up your vehicles, residential hall rooms, and offices when you leave. Remove any valuables from sight or take them with you when you leave.

  • Do not allow anyone to follow you into your residential hall or a secured area and be sure to secure spaces that are unoccupied to reduce the risk of a crime of opportunity.

  • Keep a record of all keys issued. Master keys and extra duplicates should be locked away for safekeeping.

  • Maintain an inventory of all office equipment; include the make, model, and serial number of each item. Keep this inventory in a safe place. Keep it current by adding the identification numbers of all new equipment.

  • Please do not delay in calling 911. UAPD strongly encourages the reporting of criminal or suspicious activity in a timely manner.
