UAPD Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Main Library Stabbing
TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) arrested a juvenile suspect Tuesday afternoon following a stabbing inside the Main Library on campus.
At approximately 2:12 p.m., UAPD received a 911 call reporting a stabbing at the library. Officers and Community Service Officers arrived within minutes and located a 17-year-old female, not affiliated with the university, with stab wounds.
UAPD officers immediately provided life-saving aid using Individual First Aid Kits until Tucson Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. She is listed in stable condition.
During the response, UAPD received reports of a male suspect fleeing south of campus. After a pursuit, the 17-year-old male suspect was located and detained. The suspect, who is also not affiliated with the university, was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
The identities of both the victim and the suspect are being withheld due to their status as minors. The investigation remains ongoing.
UAPD would like to thank community members who aided in the investigation and the apprehension of the suspect.
