Arrest Made in Bike Theft

Tucson, Arizona – The University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) arrested Erik Andrew Krohl,32, on Wednesday for felony theft, trafficking in stolen property, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor theft and criminal damage.

On August 28, 2024, UAPD posted two photos on social media asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a recent bike theft that occurred on the University of Arizona campus.

On September 4, 2024, at 8:03 p.m., UAPD received a report of a bike theft in progress at residence hall Posada San Pedro. When officers arrived on scene, they witnessed a person matching the suspect’s description leaving the area. They contacted the man, later identified by a detective as Erik Krohl. Krohl is believed to have been involved in the earlier bike theft on campus, as well as the bike theft at residence hall Posada San Pedro. Krohl was subsequently arrested.

In addition to his arrest, Krohl was issued an Exclusionary Order banning him from all university property. UAPD recognizes the quick actions, professionalism, and commitment of the officers from both the Criminal Investigations Bureau and Field Operations Bureau, whose diligent work was instrumental in securing Krohl’s arrest.  UAPD expresses gratitude to the community members who swiftly reported these incidents and urges everyone to continue reporting any suspicious or concerning activities to law enforcement.

Typically, during the first few weeks of a new semester there is an increase in bike thefts on campus. Visit safety tips on the UAPD website to learn about resources and tips for securing your bicycle.
