Arrest Made in Assault

Tucson, Arizona – The University of Arizona Police Department arrested Henry Yanez III, 41, on Sunday for one charge of assault.

On August 10, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., UAPD received a report of a male who drove up to a woman (not affiliated with the U of A) at Euclid Ave and First St. The male exited his vehicle and offered the woman a ride multiple times, which she declined. She walked away from him heading towards Main Gate Square (Tyndall Ave. and University Blvd.). While entering an establishment at Main Gate Square. The woman saw what she believed was the male’s vehicle parked across the street. The vehicle was gone when the reporting party left the establishment a short time later. The vehicle was described as a white Nissan Altima, bearing Arizona License Plate KHA-9SG. The male involved in this incident was described as a Hispanic male, 41 years of age, 6 feet tall, heavy build and had short dark hair.

On August 11, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., UAPD received a report of an individual who had groped a woman’s buttocks near Park Ave and University Blvd. The victim said the individual identified himself by the name “Henry” and was seen driving a white Nissan Altima. UAPD detectives and officers from the UAPD Patrol Bureau contacted Henry Yanez III at his off-campus residence where he was identified as the suspect involved in these two incidents and was subsequently arrested.

In addition to his arrest, Yanez was issued an Exclusionary Order banning him from all university property. UAPD highlights the speed of response, professionalism, and dedication of the officers from the Investigations Bureau and Field Operations Bureau who worked on the case leading to Yanez’s arrest. UAPD thanks the involved community members for promptly reporting these incidents and encourages all community members to report concerning or suspicious activity to law enforcement.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
