Deputy Chief Brittain began working at UAPD in 1989 as student Community Service Officer, and became a Police Dispatcher in 1991. After graduating from the UA with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona, Deputy Chief Brittain became a certified Police Officer. He was first promoted to Corporal, then Sergeant, then Lieutenant, then Commander, then Assistant Chief, and in May 2016, was appointed Deputy Chief. Over his career he has been a Field Training Officer, Bicycle Patrol Officer, Firearms Instructor (pistol and rifle), TASER Instructor, Armorer, and General Instructor, and Training Coordinator. After 20 years of service, on July 7, 2014 he was appointed Assistant Chief of Police.
